Controlling the “Risk Factors” Against Deadly Cardiovascular Disease

Controlling the “Risk Factors” Against Deadly Cardiovascular Disease is Key to a Happy & Healthy Life; Xocai Healthy “Flavanol Rich” Dark Chocolate is Known to Contribute to Lowering Blood.

“Heart disease” and “stroke” are the two most common conditions that fall under the “expansive umbrella” name of “Cardiovascular Disease”(CVD), which are diseases that affect the blood supply to the heart, brain and other parts of the body. Heart disease includes conditions that affect the heart, such as coronary heart disease (CHD), congestive heart failure and heart attacks. Stroke, also known as “cerebrovascular disease”, affects the blood vessels in the brain. There are a number of factors that can increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease; some factors we “cannot control”, such as genetics, age and sex. Other factors, however, can be changed to prevent or delay the onset of cardiovascular disease. These are known as “modifiable risk factors” and include abnormal cholesterol, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, diabetes, tobacco use, secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure, physical inactivity, poor nutrition and excess weight.

Cardiovascular disease “generally” takes many years or decades to develop. Therefore, prevention of CVD must begin during childhood. As this is where “healthy habits” can be developed. Prevention continues into adulthood, where “safeguarding of healthy habits is key”. Medications and “way of life changes” can help control risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes and diabetes. It is “essential” that resources and opportunity are available for those of all ages to engage in healthy lifestyles where they can be active, eat healthy foods, breathe smoke-free air and prevent the onset of risk factors as well as disease.

Xocai on Cardiovascular Disease 300x198 Controlling the “Risk Factors” Against Deadly Cardiovascular DiseaseIn 2007, over 7% of  adults reported to their doctor that they either have had a heart attack, stroke, coronary heart disease or chest pain. This “translates” to over 109,000 adults living with CVD statewide! Heart disease is the leading cause of death. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death.

In 2006, “diseases of the heart and stroke combined” claimed nearly 4,000 lives! That accounts for over a quarter of all deaths. The rates of death from diseases of the heart and stroke have been waning, primarily from control of certain risk factors (such as, tobacco, cholesterol and blood pressure), as well as from “advances” in medicine, so that more people can survive with CVD. Regardless of the decreasing death rate over the past 15 years, the swell in some other risk factors such as obesity and diabetes, regretfully this development could potentially be overturned in the future if preventive action is not taken.

Throughout history “Cacao” has been used as a folk medicine. Many studies have shown that “Cacao” really may actually have significant “health benefits”, according to a new study by Harvard researchers. In 21 studies, 2,575 participants consumed “Dark Chocolate” and it showed that “cocoa” consumption is associated with improved blood vessel health, improvement in cholesterol levels, and decreased blood pressure. Thecompounds found in the cocoa called “flavinols”, which cause that bitterness, have been attributed to lowering blood pressure. Most“chocoholics”, however, consume chocolate in which those “flavinols” have been destroyed by the chocolates cooking process. (Such as Milk chocolate or White chocolate products.)

Real people with real health problems are discovering the benefits of regularly consuming Xocai Antioxidant Rich Chocolate. The Brooks family established MXI Corp over four years ago. MXI Corp- Xocai Healthy Chocolate invented a revolutionary “cold-press” method that is exclusive to Xocai Antioxidant Rich Organic Dark Chocolate. This processing method makes it possible to transform the cacao bean into a delicious edibleform that retains all the nutrients without adding the unwelcome ingredients.

What do Healthy Chocolate and Blueberries have in common?

A Conclusive USDA Study Determined that Extensive Commercial Canning Does Not Diminish the Healthy Level of Flavonoid Activity in Blueberries- Xocai Healthy Chocolates also Maintains the Extreme Health Benefits with the Acai Berry and Blueberries in their Organic Dark Chocolate

Blueberries owe their nutritional benefits to the high levels of “naturally occurring antioxidant phytonutrients, particularly, flavonoids.”Blueberries’ helpful nutrients offer protection from oxidative damage; which is “the key association” to many “age-related diseases” such as cancer, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, among others.

In a study conducted by the Canned Food Alliance with the Oregon Health Sciences University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) — to determine the affect of commercial canning on the “flavonoid content of blueberries compared with fresh blueberries” – found that the “antioxidant level and flavonoid activity in canned blueberries actually is elevated than that of fresh and frozen blueberries.”

Blueberries and Xocai What do Healthy Chocolate and Blueberries have in common?“Not only did this study prove that commercial canning does not diminish the levels of any flavonoid measured, it actually increases the abundance of some antioxidants,” said Dr. Daniel Hatton, associate professor at OHSU“Since canned fruit is processed immediately after harvest, canned blueberries offer a year-round source of antioxidants with higher levels than fresh or frozen blueberries.”

As with both consumers and the media fascination in the “health benefits” of phytonutrients, ther has been little information available about the result of food processing (canning) on flavonoid values. With the USDA, the Oregon Health Sciences University compared flavonoids in fresh, frozen, canned, heated and refrigerated blueberries — from the same harvested sample to determine the effects of commercial canning on theflavonoid (with antioxidant functions) content of blueberries as compared to fresh blueberries.

“Consumers today are more interested in positive nutrition — adding, not avoiding, foods that may enhance fitness, boost immunity, slow aging and prevent or slow the chance for chronic disease,” said Roberta Duyff, MS, RD, and author of the American Dietetic Association Complete Food and Nutrition Guide. “Research on phytonutrients is the new frontier in nutrition, and is as exciting today as vitamin discoveries were a hundred years ago.”

Beginning in 1995, the Canned Food Alliance has conducted research studies to “evaluate the nutritional values of canned foods.” The University of Illinois conducted a study in 1997 that found, that “canned fruits and vegetables provide as much dietary fiber as their cooked fresh and frozen counterparts,” and are a “suitable weapon” in helping to combat the risk of heart disease and some types of cancer.

What do Healthy Chocolate and Blueberries have in common?

Many health experts teach that consuming a wide array of nutrients creates an amplified, synergistic effect compared to consuming large amounts of only one or a few nutrients. That’s one reason MXI Corp’s-Xoçai Healthy Chocolate was created and is so “potent.”  Xocai’s unique healthy chocolate base includes açai berry and blueberries; both widely considered “modern-day superfoods.” Complementing the antioxidant and nutrient power of “cacao, açai and blueberry” help alleviate inflammation, protect against free radicals, support immune health and protect the body’s major systems and organs.

Cacao is one of the richest food sources of antioxidants in the world, and hundreds of scientific studies support its diverse health benefits. In short, it’s a true “superfood” with a nutrient profile unrivaled by any other food. Blueberries have long been heralded by scientists for their rich antioxidant content, which include anthocyanins and various vitamins. Recently emerging from the Amazon rainforests of Brazil, this nutrient-packed berry has been heralded by various doctors, health professionals and celebrities for its extraordinarily high levels of antioxidant compounds.

Only MXI preserves the natural nutrients in Xocai healthy chocolate by using a “cold-processing method.”(This has been patented.) Many “other chocolate manufacturers” use methods that destroy much of the natural nutrients in raw cacao.

Diabetes Sixth Leading Cause of Death in the United States

In a study done, by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, in 2007, Diabetes is the sixth leading causes of death in the United States. It is a leading cause of blindness, lower limb amputation and end-stage renal disease. Those individuals with Diabetes are two to four times more likely to suffer from a Stroke and Heart Disease. The prevalence of diagnosed Diabetes among adults in the United States increased by 49% between 1990 and 2000; and it’s been estimated that the “national health care” costs for diabetes are approximately $100 billion dollars a year!

Diabetes and Xocai 300x225 Diabetes Sixth Leading Cause of Death in the United States It is well recognized that close attention to “blood glucose levels” combined with “monitoring of clinical indicators” can lead to earlier interventions and significant reductions in the rates of complications. However, due to “poor diets” the prevalence of diabetes is expected to continue to “increase” in the future.

It has been estimated that approximately 7.2% of the adult population are reported to have been diagnosed with diabetes as of 2007. Sadly the occurrence of diabetes continues to increase as the person ages; going from 1.5% among individuals 18-24 years of age to17.8% among persons 65 plus years of age.

“Adjustable risk factors” for diabetes include those individuals “being overweight” and “limited physical activity”In 2007, 61.8% of adults were overweight and 9.1% of adults reported no leisure-time physical activity during the previous month in 2007.

The “key to prevention” for diabetes consists of maintaining a suitable body weight, good nutrition, and sufficient amounts of physical activity.  Secondary and tertiary prevention consist of “good glucose control” and “interventions” such as immunizations and foot and eye examinations. The death rate associated with diabetes could be decreased if all persons with the disease received the recommended clinical preventive services. Regrettably there were 1,039 deaths in New Hampshire in 2005 in which diabetes was recorded to be the contributing or primary or cause.

Some 18 years agoJeanette Brooks, Founder and President of MXI Corp, was diagnosed with diabetes. Devastated, she did not want to sacrifice taste in the products she “loves”. She was motivatedto search for ways to lower her weight and improve her overall health. Jeanette, being an entrepreneurat heart, turned her “obsession” for chocolate into her “chocolate dream” with the development of Xocai Healthy Dark Chocolate.

The most health “rewarding component” in Xocai products is the high antioxidant quantity, raw, unprocessed cacao and delicious captivating flavors. Her chocolate dreams are best experienced in two ways—first by health conscious “choco-holics” who will eat chocolate” no matter what”, and secondly, through MXI Corp. The Xocai Healthy Chocolate products are distributed through “network marketing;” which offers a fabulous business opportunity to those individuals who want to market something “revolutionary!”
